MINISTRY OF CARE

John 15:12-13: My commandment, that you love one another, as I have loved you.

CARE…when I think about the act of Care, I think of being concerned for someone, or having compassion to want to help others in need. This could be our family members, extended family, neighbors, or our fellow brothers or sisters at our local churches or people in our community who we know are in need…especially during the recent hurricanes that took so many precious lives and destroyed so much property. It makes our hearts go out to people in need of care, but I believe God designed us in this way to have compassion on our fellow man when adversity arises.

Care I believe can be shown in many ways… it can be shown by meeting physical needs, extending guidance thru spiritual encouragement, or standing beside and with persons needing emotional support when going thru struggles in life.

Jesus cared for the poor and downtrodden, and He showed His compassion & care in many ways. Jesus spent time with the poor, serving, encouraging, and standing up for them.

Jesus healed the sick, gave sight to blind, and healed the leper. Jesus befriended the outcast, opened the ears of the deaf. He healed those paralyzed.

Jesus preached the good news of God’s love and salvation.

Jesus reached out to people and touched the untouchable; loved the unlovable; forgave the unforgivable; and welcomed those undesired by others.

One of the most precious examples of Jesus showing care was while He was yet dying on the cross, He asked John to take care of His mother, Mary.

God gave us so many examples of care in the bible that we can use as a guide for us to pattern our care for others.

The Ministry of CARE brings:

Hope…

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Help…

John 6:1-5 Jesus helped by feeding the 5000.

Mark 4: 35-41 Jesus calmed the storm when the disciples were fearful of the waves.

Healing…

Mark 5 Jesus healed a woman who had an issue of blood.

Luke 17: 11-19 Jesus haled the ten lepers.

John 11 Jesus raised Lazarus from the grave…and Jairus’ daughter from the dead!

If we truly follow Jesus’ commandment in John the 15th chapter, to love one another, as He has loved us. I believe that care for others will come naturally to us.

Help me Lord…to be like Jesus!
