As His daughters we are being called to the secret place with our heavenly Father, but if we aren’t careful, we can become professional pray-ers instead of strategic intercessors. God’s desire for us is to lay aside our titles as leaders and make our way into the secret place with Him as His child-like daughters.
The secret place is spoken of in the Old Testament. Psalm 91:1 says, He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. In the New Testament, Matthew 6:6 instructs us, But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
AUTHORITY
In my first devotional, Big Bold Prayers, we discussed the Lord’s Prayer and the importance of beginning with praise before our prayer of petition begin. There is another aspect I want to emphasize and that is the declaration and authority used in the prayer... Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Matthew 6:10 NKJV.
Isaiah 22:22 and Matthew 16:19 tells us that God has given us the keys of the Kingdom to be used in prayer. If your prayer is biblical and prayed from an obedient heart, you have the authority to call down the answer to earth that has already been established in heaven! Declare the Word of the Lord over your household, over your region and church, over your mind, and over your heart.
PRAY HIS WORD BACK TO HIM
Jeremiah 23:29 NKJV says, "Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaks the rock in pieces?” God’s Word is a spiritual hammer that shatters every stronghold!
BIG PRAYERS
In Joshua 10 the enemy was fleeing an attack by Joshua and his entire army, but the prayer was to finish the battle! Joshua had witnessed the many miracles God performed for the children of Israel as they traveled from Egypt to the Promised Land, so when he became leader of the people of God his faith was strong, even in the heat of combat. He was confident in the promises of God and prayed a courageous prayer... “in front of all Israel,” asking God to hold the sun still so they could finish the fight (Joshua 10:12). That level of assurance in the power of God secured the victory over the enemies of the people of God.
The Lord is encouraging us, the women in His church in these last days before His soon coming...to start praying big, bold, sun standing still prayers!!!
May we be a part of walking into the grocery store and praying a prayer of healing over a new friend or neighbor. Or even better, may we be like Peter who witnessed miracles when just his shadow healed the sick as he passed by. (Acts 5:15)
I recently heard Pastor Conlon of Times Square Church in New York City say, “the Gospel was never intended to be preached without signs and wonders.” We are to be conduits of the manifested supernatural power of God as we live, move and have our being in Him!
Let’s pray together: Heavenly Father, we praise your Holy name. We praise you for being our warrior in battle, our defender, our refuge and fortress of Psalm 91. May we dwell in the secret place of the Most High.
Holy Spirit, bring your fire to burn out impurities, bring fire to our bones to shake us from our lethargic positions of prayer. Fill us with your Spirit as the pioneers of the early church that we may be bold and courageous.
As our Shepherd, pour your oil of ease on us in a world full of anxiety and fear. May we be so slick with your oil that the scent and oiliness rubs off on everyone we come in contact.Fill our cup to overflowing.
May we dwell in unity as the early church of Acts, to stand strong together, in these last days before your return.
In Your strong and mighty name! Amen.
Put on your sunglasses and get ready for some sun-stand-still prayers to be answered!
