STORY OF ONE BECOMES STORY OF MANY

Every story has a beginning—and sometimes, one story becomes the story of many.
This story began in 2008, when American missionaries from The Crossing Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee, visited a remote hill tribe village in Southeast Asia and met a young girl named Parnnee.
Her life had already been marked by heartbreak: her father died by suicide, and her mother abandoned the family. While her siblings entered a Church of God orphanage, Parnnee was left behind in deep poverty with her aging grandmother.
At just fourteen, desperate and afraid, she followed the missionaries through the village, pleading, “What will happen to me?”
Thanks to the financial support of the missionaries, Parnnee was welcomed into the orphanage. But after high school, the same fear returned, and through tears, she asked again, “What will happen to me?”
That question led to the beginning of Forward Housing Bangkok in 2014, creating a future beyond the orphanage—not just for Parnnee, but for many.
She went on to graduate from university, now works full-time as an accountant, and serves in her local church as a worship leader and volunteer.
Today, Forward Housing has expanded to Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Myanmar, helping orphans from our Church of God orphanages face the future with hope—and finally answer the question, “What will happen to me?”
Parnnee’s story reminds us of the widow in 1 Kings 17. When the prophet Elijah asked her for bread, she replied that she had only a handful of flour and a little oil—just enough for one final meal. But Elijah asked her, “What do you have in your house?” It wasn’t about what she lacked—it was about what she still had. When she offered it in faith, God multiplied it.
Parnnee, like that widow, had almost nothing—yet she offered what she did have: her voice, her plea, her hope. That small act of faith sparked the birthing of Forward Housing and opened doors not only for her future, but for many others.
Our Church of God orphans, wherever they live, are like Parnnee. Though they come from difficult circumstances, they hold great potential to serve their communities and nations as the next generation of Christian leaders—shaping the Church with purpose and boldness.
Hers is the story of one that has become the story of many.
Kaye Harris has served in full-time ministry with her husband, Terry, for close to 50 years. They have three children and nine grandchildren. A retired registered nurse, Kaye now serves as Missions Pastor at The Crossing Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She and Terry founded Dream Central Chattanooga, which is now active in three countries. Kaye is passionate about intercessory prayer and helping women awaken the “prayer mother” within—praying boldly for prodigal sons and daughters.
They are presently working on establishing the Mount of Prayer in Decatur, Tennessee—a sacred place of intercession focused on praying for Israel, America, the Church, the prodigal, and the next generation of Christian leaders.
She often stands on the promise of Jeremiah 31:16–17 (NKJV):
“Refrain your voice from weeping, and your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded,” says the Lord, “and they shall come back from the land of the enemy. There is hope in your future,” says the Lord, “that your children shall come back to their own border.”
